Rolex Fastnet Race 2017

A good start is everything…not in an offshore race, that takes some days. After a nice port tack pin end start we were able to leave the Solent with the leading group. With the first left shift we tacked closer to the shore and sailed a while on that tack. The wind was keeping to go left. Unfortunately our starboard rudder didn’t want to stay down and we had to tack against the shifting wind until we fixed the issue.
We lost couple of miles with that incident and couldn’t catch up. Some unfavored tactical decisions left us fighting with the strong current at landsend so that we had to sail a longer distance.
At the fastnet rock we pushed the throttle down and were able to catch six boats so that we finished 10. overall.
